Ryu tries to donate one of his kidneys to his sick sister, only to receive the diagnosis that his is not appropriate for her. He contacts an illegal organ seller who steals his kidney as well as his severance pay. Ryu´s girlfriend Young-mi suggests kidnapping a rich man´s child, saying, "kidnapping for a good reason is not a crime..."

With a hard-boiled style, the film shows protagonists’ unfortunate destiny in the cycle of psychological and physical brutal violence. Director Park elaborately links the eyes and actions of the silent or unspeakable characters and imbues extraordinary emotions into the margins of the screen. Its style is to capture the various emotions in a frame with all modifications curtailed. Outstanding performances by the cast invisibly bear the creases of mixed emotions, reaching a modern stage liberated from the previous expressive compulsion. [KIM Youngjin]
