A remake version of the Korean film Scandal Makers (2008). Same as the original film´s storyline, a high riding entertainer who introduces a radio program meets his daughter and grandchild that he never knew about. The film became a big issue as the widely known Vietnamese pop-singer starred the main role. It also could make a big success influenced by the “Korean Fever.”
Vietnamese remake of Kang Hyungchul’s Scandal Makers (2008). A radio star becomes aware of a daughter and grandson, and mayhem ensues. A hit in Vietnam box office partly thanks to the Korean Wave, Hallyu; the success of the film also owes a debt to its popular stars. Fascinating to see the differences between Korean and Vietnamese filmmaking, but the film is also an interesting case study of how contemporary interests surrounding the celebrities can be re-enacted through commercial films.
