Overview

During the second term at the Film School, Roy Andersson made the student film To Fetch a Bike, a moving color film that in somewhat sketchy scenes describes the morning activities of a tentative young pair of lovers.

Review

This film is Roy Andersson’s second directing in the Swedish Film Institute after he studied philosophy. The film begins with the moment a young couple waking up in the morning. They wake up in the blanket, drink milk, have a short conversation and eat breakfast as morning routines. Frequent close-up shots demonstrate the intimacy of the couple, but do not clearly confirm what their relationship is. The two go up to the rooftop of the building and fetch a bike. The man takes off on his morning road, riding his bike. [LEE Sang-yong]
