Ruth, working in a neuroscience research lab, is committed to her work, her family and her faith. But when her ex-lover is released from prison and reemerges after 20 years in jail, her convictions are threatened.
Ruth is faithful and devoted to her family and work. Her life is simple ― living in central Switzerland with her husband and daughter. The Innocent, the second film by Jaquemet captures the moment when her life is on edge. As she finds out that her ex-lover is released from prison, she feels uneasy. He was charged for murder, but Ruth believed his innocence. The ex-lover shows up and asks Ruth to leave with him. Her husband and the people at church believe that she is possessed by evil spirits and perform an exorcism. In this bizarre situation, the stronger surrealism is produced in the film. Can the monkey with a new head and body sticked together by Ruth revive again? The film gives a question to the audiences whether her new life has a possibility, through the protagonist.
